Dr. Burns has been working on landslides in Oregon for over 30 years and has been involved the remediation of many of those that have happened in the Pacific Northwest  He will talk about a lot of case histories and what we have learned from them.

About Scott Burns

Scott Burns is an engineering geology professor at Portland State University. He has been teaching at the university level for 53 years, with previous positions in Switzerland, New Zealand, Colorado, and Louisiana before coming home to Oregon 33 years ago.  He has been national president of AEG (Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists) and the president of IAEG (International Association of Engineering Geologists and the Environment from 2014-2018.  He has two degrees from Stanford University and his PhD from the University of Colorado.  He has been married for 48 years and has three children.
