DESCRIPTION

Structural Engineering: The Profession, The Grandeur,and The Glory

Ashraf will present a fun and informative talk about structural engineering as a profession, the importance of image and perception, and creating an impact in a competitive global economy.  He will also discuss the connection between engineering and the arts and the exciting impact that structural engineers have every day on the lives of people throughout the world.  The state of the art in software developments will be included in the context of the discussion.  In his talks, Ashraf aims to create a mainstream appreciation for the profession by leveraging the powerful positive social and economic aspects of structural engineering.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Ashraf Habibullah, Computers and Structures, Inc.

Ashraf is a registered Civil and Structural Engineer and is President and CEO of Computers and Structures, Incorporated, which he founded in 1975.  Ashraf holds an MS in Structural Engineering from UC Berkeley.  He is founder of Diablo Ballet, a critically acclaimed San Francisco Bay Area-based professional dance company.  He is also founder of The Engineers Alliance for the Arts, an organization that involves school children with technology, focusing on the artistic aspects of structural engineering.
